#88 - Zachary Wandel
People call me Zach. I am 28 years old and live in Evanston, Illinois. I was born with a cognitive disability and have struggled with it my whole life. I got into music and singing when I was a young teen. It helped me to be happy and helped me to be strong. I believe that people with disabilities can do anything if they put their minds to it. That means you have a goal that you work on, you practice, you find out what you need to do to get better. When I first started singing, I was not so good. I have gotten better over the years by practicing. When I sing it opens my feelings up. And that makes me feel better and peaceful. I want to show the world that people with disabilities can do good with anything. That they are not alone. And that they are more than a disability.
We Found Love In a Hopeless Place

I was with the acting group called Acting Up, which performed at the Devonshire playhouse in Skokie. I try to keep myself busy doing commercial work and acting wherever I can. I think I was born singing. Its such a pleasure to be in this contest and I can't tell you how happy I am.
