Short Play Festival

Directors, Actors and Playwrights from all over Chicago are  invited to participate in our annual festival of short-form theater.

 

We are looking for fully-produced entries.  Plays should be approx. 10 – 15 minutes in length, and should be able to be performed with a minimum of suggested scenery (chairs, tables, rehearsal cubes, etc.) under a generic lighting plot.

 

Plays can be original works, or existing pieces that have been previously performed.  The number of times each play is presented will depend on the number of entries, but each play will be presented at least twice during the festival.

 

Directors are responsible for casting their play and for providing their own props, costumes, and specific set pieces.  Many royalty-free short plays can be found online.  Playwrights are welcome to submit royalty-free scripts separately that will be shared with directors and performers searching for materials.

 

MadKap Productions will provide the performance venue, generic set pieces, technical support, and marketing materials.  We will not be able to provide rehearsal space at this time.

 

Audiences will be asked to vote for a festival winner, with a grand prize of $100 awarded to the audience favorite.  Other prizes may be awarded as they become available.
