  • A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

    July 11 - Aug 3

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart

A fast-paced, side-splitting musical comedy set in ancient Rome. It follows Pseudolus, a charmingly lazy slave, who schemes to win his freedom by helping his young master, Hero, woo the beautiful Philia. With mistaken identities, outrageous characters, and hilarious situations, this romp delivers non-stop laughs and a catchy, upbeat score. It’s a zany blend of slapstick, wordplay, and farce—perfect for anyone looking for a night of pure comedy!

  • THE THERAPY PLAYERS

    Aug 9 at 8 pm

The Therapy Players return to Skokie with 90 minutes of new material with one intermission, and short scenes improvised on the spot from audience suggestions.

How many psychotherapists does it take to make a crowd laugh? Come find out when the Therapy Players take the stage! Professional psychotherapists by day, they've been performing together as a comedy improv troupe since 2013 and were the winners of the 2015 Chicago Collider Improv competition. Their revue “Phobia Shmobia” won a standing ovation at the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and they brought down the house at the International Society for the Study of Self Injury, where they performed at the happy hour. The troupe has also played, usually to sellout crowds, at theaters and clubs in Chicago and a variety of suburbs, including Evanston, Libertyville, Oak Park, Palatine and Schaumburg.

  • FOREVER PLAID

Extra Performances Added Aug 16 and 17

A musical comedy tribute to the harmonic Boy's bands of the early 50s and 60s. Forever Plaid is the story of four young guys, Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie, who have been practicing in the basement of Smudge’s family’s plumbing supply company, dreaming about success. On the way to their first big gig at the airport Hilton, they get into an unfortunate accident with a school bus. But they return to Earth to present their final concert and hopefully earn a place in the heavens forever.

Will they overcome asthma, ulcers, nerves, and forgotten lyrics? Will they find the perfect chord? With a warmth and cleverness, Forever Plaid is a delightful, mischievous, and unashamedly heartwarming homage to the sweet and innocent sounds of the ‘50s and the ‘60s and features popular hits such as “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “16 Tons,” and “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing”.
